TPE is fully waterproof, stays flexible when it is freezing, does not reek of chemicals in summer heat, and rinses clean with a hose. Cheap PVC and basic rubber mats get stiff, smell, and curl at the edges. I learned that the expensive way.

Custom fit beats universal every single time

The Model Y footwell has an odd shape, and universal mats never cover it properly. You end up with gaps at the edges where water and grit sneak through to the carpet you were trying to protect. Custom molded mats follow the exact contour of the footwell with raised lips that actually contain a spilled drink instead of letting it run under the seat.

Look for at least a centimeter and a half of raised edge, and an anti slip backing so the mat does not creep forward when you brake.

Good news. The 2025 Juniper kept the same footwell dimensions as the 2020 to 2024 cars, so most existing Model Y mats fit fine. Still worth confirming with the seller if you have a brand new one, because a few cabin details did shift.
